Board Members

The Wishing for Wings foundation is registered as a non-governmental organization and is registered with the Ministry of Community Development in Trinidad and Tobago. This foundation is made up of an eclectic array of individuals. All are passionate about making a change in Trinidad and Tobago and willing to work tirelessly on creating a better environment for the future generations of our Trinbago nation. Because of the volunteer services of these individuals, the men and women of today and the future are able to soar towards a better future. 

Debbie Jacob
Director

Author, Journalist, librarian, and teacher, Debbie Jacob has been teaching Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) English Language, Literature, and Caribbean History at the Youth Training Center of Trinidad and Tobago since 2009. She also taught English Language and English Literature at The Royal Gaol (Royal Jail). Jacob was formally the Head Librarian at The International School of Port of Spain( ISPS) and is currently a columnist with the Trinidad Newsday Daily Newspaper. She is the author of 11 books including Wishing for Wings, the story of her first CXC English Language class at YTC. She has had a Cabinet appointment with the National Curriculum Council of Trinidad and Tobago. In 2019 she received the Express Individual of the Year award. In 2020 she received the Chaconia Gold medal, the second highest honor in Trinidad and Tobago, for her work in prison reform and animal rights with the Police K9 service.

Ijanaya Jacob-Brown
Secretary

Ijanaya Jacob is currently working as head librarian and MYP Projects coordinator at an international school in Antwerp, Belgium.  Jacob-Brown is also an entrepreneur in the field of fashion design. She has also worked as a Primary school librarian at Khartoum International School in Sudan and as an Assistant Librarian at the International School of Port of Spain. Her career also includes work as an Assistant Art director, a Production Assistant, a wardrobe coordinator on films, tv series, music videos, and commercials, and a flight attendant on Caribbean Airlines and British West Indies Airways. 

Jehanne Patihk

Jehanne Patihk is a Chartered Secretary. She is a former Area Records Manager at British American Tobacco Caribbean and Central America Services Ltd. (BATCCA) She has worked as Area Records Manager at the West Indian Tobacco Company Limited and Company Secretary ay the West Indian Tobacco Company Limited. Luesette Howell

Luesette Howell is a former official with the International Labour Organization (ILO), an agency of the United Nations System, where she has served as a Senior Specialist for developing, monitoring and implementing technical cooperation programmes for Africa and for the Caribbean.  She served at the ILO's headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and with the ILO Sub-regional Office for the Caribbean based in Trinidad and Tobago.  Since her retirement in August 2012, Luesette continues to provide tailored training and advisory services in response to requests and invitations by private and public sector organizations regarding fundamental rights and responsibilities in the world of work.  . She serves as an adviser, proposal writer, resource person, presenter, and workshop facilitator for national, regional, and international projects and programmes in a variety of capacity-building areas such as organizational reviews as the basis for strategic planning and management, promoting corporate social responsibility, small and medium enterprise development, occupational safety and health, and gender issues. , and knowledge about fundamental rights and responsibilities in the world of work. She is a regular participant in campaigns and programmes organized and implemented through the national and international alliances of the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) and the Young Men's Christian Organization (YMCA). 

Kim Johnson

Trustee

Kim Johnson is currently the Director of the Carnival Institute of Trinidad and Tobago and is considered by some to be the foremost historian of the steel pan. He studied law at UWI, Cave Hill, but dropped out of Law School. He then worked with illegal migrants in Guadeloupe and Suriname, and with a charitable foundation in the Dominican Republic and Uruguay. In the 1990s he worked as a journalist. In 2001 he was awarded a Ph.D. in sociology from UWI, Mona, and thereafter worked as a regional manager for Fujitsu Caribbean, and then as a Senior Research Fellow at The Academy for Arts, Letters, Culture and Public Affairs at The University of Trinidad and Tobago. In 2011 he was awarded the Anthony Sabga prize for excellence in Arts & letters.

Joel Roberts

Trustee

Joel Roberts is an employee with the Ministry of Justice with direct oversight for the transportation and rehabilitation of prison inmates. He is one of the main proponents for the cognitive empowerment of young offenders.  A former community activist, he bears a great understanding of the patrons and a greater appreciation of what it takes to truly make this mission continue on a path of progress, and a remarkable vision of the future of the foundation.
